Ranakpur-Kumbhalgarh Trek - [15th - 19th Nov. 2015]

Rajasthan - better known as a Dessert area has a surprise in the form of Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary situated amidst the sylvan charms & the winding valleys is a great exploring place for the trekkers...


Rajasthan is famous for its Ancient Temples & Royal Kingdoms... One of the historical world Famous Ranakpur Jain Temple & famous range of Aravalli Hills attract the tourists... The place is bejeweled with verdurous forest & resounding valleys... The infinite variety of its historical settings, its varied flora & fauna, the history of its people & the variety of its ethnic communities & their rich heritage of ancient traditions n lifestyle makes it a trekking wonderland that is just to be discovered...

For this trek ticket was booked on 15th of November by train from Gurgaon to Falna... As usual my ticket was in waiting, but thankfully 2 hrs before the departure it got confirmed :) so started in the night after my office hours; reached early in the morning to Falna station... Now I had to go to Ranakpur which is about 27 Kms from Falna... From Falna I got a shared taxi till Sadri n then I got a rickshaw till the base camp Shakti Mata temple, Ranakpur...

15th Nov. 2015 - Reporting at base camp
Day 1 - Reached at the base camp at about 11 AM, it was just in the front side of the Shakti mata temple n there was a lake on the back side of the temple... Completed my registration process...  

 
Got freshened up n went to visit Ranakpur temple, just a walking distance of about 1 km... Amazed to see this Spectacular temple & its unique architecture... Rajasthan is famous for its rich & prolific art treasures, some of its architectural monuments are considered among the best in the world... The Ranakpur Jain Temple excels them all as an exquisite work of art n architecture & it is widely known for this marble Jain temple... It is an eloquent testimony to India's cultural heritage...

Came back & had lunch... after having tea in the afternoon our group (very small group of 10-12 participants) went for Orientation towards a beautiful place surrounded by lake near to our base camp... after orientation by our field director Mr. R.S. Bhati, we enjoyed sunset n captured it as well :)


While coming back we had some shopping near temple... Had delicious Rajasthani dinner n then camp fire... after having bournvita, lights off...

16th Nov. 2015 - Trek to Phutadeval [11 Km]
Day 2Next day got up early in the morning, had tea n breakfast & ready to move with packed lunch for our next camp Phutadeval... As soon as we started after crossing Jain Temple we visited Sun temple on our way, which is managed by the Udaipur royal family trust... One more beautiful temple added joy in our journey :)




Dry n Steep trail & we reached to our first camp...Nice campsite near one more temple in Phutadeval surrounded by local market... njoyed this place with lots of shopping n selfies :) had delicious Rajasthani dinner n then lights off...



17th Nov. 2015 - Trek to Kumbalgarh [14 Km]
Day 3 - Got up early in the morning, had tea n breakfast & ready to move with packed lunch for our next camp Kumbhalgarh... This day route was lil difficult n long through the forest, but enjoyable walk overall till our camp Kumbhalgarh... We met local ladies carrying their stuff with them...
Nice camp site surrounded by farms on the way to Kumbhalgarh fort... After we reach we had some rest & then our evening was scheduled for fort visit...



Kumbhalgarh Fort is a Mewar fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills, is the birth place of Maharana Pratap... Wall is the 2nd largest wall in the world & Its length is 36 Km & width is 36 ft...

Few of us started lil early to book tickets for all of us for light & sound show which is held every evening at 6:45 pm at the fort... The ticket for the show is Rs. 75/- for the 45 minute show... The show tells the history of the fort with light, sound & music... The lighting effect is spectacular & after the show the whole fort is illuminated for an hour...




After watching this spectacular show, we came back to our camp by the time of dinner... At this camp, there was a proper famous Rajasthani food - Jwari-Bajri ki roti, Ker-sangri, Khichdi-Kadi, churma n what not!!! still I can't forget delicious dinner that day :) couldn't sleep properly that day because of overeating!!! 

18th Nov. 2015 - Trek to Thandiberi [13 Km]
Day 4 - Next day got up, had tea n breakfast... We got some valuable information by one of the local officials regarding history of the Kumbhalgarh fort & about the forest route... after we start from our camp, we visited Kumbhalgarh fort & then started trekking - again same long, but enjoyable route in the forest till our camp site...

Reached Thandiberi camp (Govt. guest house) by the afternoon - nice camp site totally covered by huge long trees in the forest... after taking some rest, we had tea n enjoyed a lot this place on the terrace of this guest house... unforgettable memories :) Had delicious Rajasthani food of Dal bati n Churma n then lights off...


19th Nov. 2015- Trek to Muchhala Mahavir Temple [2.5 Km] 
Day 5 - Next day got up early in the morning after having tea n breakfast we started for our base camp... First as per the schedule we visited Muchhala Mahavir Temple which was just 2.5 Kms away from this camp site... This tirth is one of the five Godval tirth... bhagwan Mahavir seated in padmasana posture, statue is white in color n height is 120 cm.




Here bus was arranged to drop us till Ranakpur base camp which was approx. 20 Kms away... we reached to the base camp by 11 AM, had lunch n group dispersed from here...
I left early to visit the Golden temple in Falna as my train was scheduled in the night, same day... One more spectacular temple in Rajasthan!!! Reached by the afternoon, booked a room for half day in the Golden temple as it was very near, just a walking distance from the railway station... Nice room with all the facilities including delicious food (Prasad) in the temple itself :)






Though my train was lil late in the night at about 11.30 PM, I didn't feel unsafe walking to the station for a single minute!!! Very nice n auspicious place (station) I must say... Reached Gurgaon in the morning with lots of unforgettable memories :)
