Chanderkhani Pass - [1st - 10th May 2016]

Chanderkhani - Located at a height of 12,190 ft. provides an Awesome n Breathtaking views of some of the most Beautiful snow clad Mountain peaks like Tiger Thatch, Ali Ratni, Inderasan & Priyadarshini Range... One of the most popular trekking routes in the Shivalik Range!

Just after the completion of Biasar-Kullu Mountain Biking on 30th April, I reported to the base camp 15 Miles on 1st of May... Though distance was very less from Dobhi base camp to 15 Miles base camp (Chanderkhani pass), it took only 15-20 mins to reach the base camp... Also the Field Director of Dobhi base camp was supposed to come to 15 Miles, so he dropped me by his car till the base camp... So very short n Comfortable Journey!
This camp site was on a very narrow roadside...

1st May 2016 -
Reporting at base camp - 15 Miles
Day 1 - The day I reached this camp, I was not well, so I couldn't participate in Acclimatization walk, Rock climbing n other activities for first 3 days, at the base camp... So I have nothing much to write about this trek...
But the very first day there was a very Good & Informative session on Astronomy - '
Galaxy n Stars' by Mr. C. Modhwadia sir who is from Gujarat!

Astronomy session

2nd May 2016 - Briefing & Acclimatization
Day 2 - Took rest whole day at the base camp & in the evening visited nearest Village - Patlikuhal...

3rd May 2016 - Rock climbing & Rappelling
Day 3 - Couldn't go for Rock climbing & Rappelling as I was not well... But wanted to go to Manali for Shopping as it was just 30 Kms from this place... So I went with CK3 group till Manali, but then they went to Solang Valley... I did lots of shopping & came back by the afternoon... This day we had camp fire with 2 other groups who reported on day 2 & 3... few of the group mates amongst all 3 groups performed different different activities... then we had dinner & finally lights off...

4th May 2016 - Base camp to Malana by bus, then trek to Yosgo [9000 ft]
Day 4 - Got up early in the morning... Had tea n breakfast (very delicious n different varieties) & Special feast for CK1 :)

Started by bus till Malana Project n then any how reached to the first camp site, Yosgo via Malana Village... Malana is the only one village where residents still retains its 2000 years old traditions of a “Village Republic”... They have a distinct way of life, social customs, judicial system & ethics...

I was not feeling well almost all the way till we reached Yosgo, I couldn't eat anything that day... I got scared with a thought how would I be able to walk without eating anything!!! At one point I felt I should go back as I was indeed in a very bad condition... But then I managed somehow with the help of the team!

5th May - Trek to Behali campsite via Malana village [8900 ft / 8 km]
Day 5 - Next morning I felt lil better as I had medicine previous night... This first camp site could have been eliminated as it was repeated route - first we climbed up to Malana Village with lots of instructions - "Don't touch people, don't touch here n there," & then next day came back by same route to reach upto next campsite Behali!

Reached Next camp Behali through Malana Dam early as this was very short distance & mostly downhill...

Much Better camp site with river stream flowing beside our camp site, so enjoyed this place...

6th May 2016 - Trek to Dadru [9800 ft / 7 km]
Day 6 - Next day after having breakfast n packed lunch we started for our next camp Dadru...

This was the best route with Beautiful views n kind of adventure... Lunch point was on the mid-way, where we spent lot of time... It started lil raining so enjoyed a lot...

Finally reached to Dadru camp... First look of this camp was awesome as it was surrounded by big trees n Greenery all over... But it was not a comfortable place to stay as it was odd n slippery land all over... Source for drinking water n Toilets were very far from our tents & the way to go there was very steep n downside... In the day time we managed anyhow, but after sunset it was real tough job to go anywhere outside the tents...
We had our dinner before sunset as always we do on all higher altitude camps...

It started raining after sunset & now biggest challenge was to go out for the Toilet... Before sleeping when we just stepped out from our tent, 2 of my tent mates were about to slip & when I just put my first leg out of the tent I literally fell down as I slipped in the mud as I didn't have any support... It was too dark outside, we couldn't realise that it became more slippery after raining... That's not all!!! I was not even able to stand up by my own, as I tried I used to fall down again n again... Any how we all 4 girls managed to get out of this...
Unforgettable Adventure!!! I mean it was dark n there could have been any kind of mishap as there were no basic arrangements at all, keeping in mind the area of this place...

7th May 2016 - Trek to Nagroni [10,000 ft / 8 km]
Day 7 - Next day started for our next camp Nagroni which was our highest altitude camp site... Finally we got one of the best camp site of Chanderkhani :)

After spending 5-6 days for this expedition, this was the only day I felt that I have come for any such expedition like Sar pass... This camp site was situated on a huge, open land surrounded by Snow covered Mountains n Greenery all over... All were enjoying the Beauty n Breathtaking views of this place... Had dinner early n slept early as we had to get up mid night n start before sunset to cross Chanderkhani pass!!!

8th May 2016 - Trek to Nauya Tapru via Chanderkhani pass [9000 ft / 14 km]
Day 8 - Finally the day came for our summit... Got up early at 2.30 AM so that we could start at 4 AM in the morning... Had tea n breakfast n started for our last camp via Chanderkhani...

We got snow n few slides on the way... Reached Chanderkhani pass very easily, from where we could see few other peaks... spent some time over the pass n then started going down by sliding...

Reached to our last camp Nauya Tapru,  by the afternoon!!!

9th May 2016 - Trek to Naggar via Rumsu Village n transfer to Base Camp by Bus 7 km
Day 9 - Got up in the morning with a good feeling that we have to tolerate all this only for a day as it was our last day... This day was more hectic as route was very tedious n long... moreover long breaks after every hour made it more irritating... Finally we reached to Naggar, from where we had to go by bus till the base camp...

As soon as we reached to the base camp, I had to collect my Extra luggage as I had to go to Delhi same day by Volvo...

10th May 2016 - Check out after breakfast
Day 10 - Reached Delhi early in the morning with few Good memories!!!
